Handkerchief tree Davidia involucrata taken on May 12, 2011 in the Stranmillis University College , South Belfast.  

 A native of China, the handkerchief tree was once considered to be the Holy Grail of exotic flora.  For more details go to the Kew Gardens web site to see how it was introduced into the UK in 1901 from China.
